Flitter
Species: Dragonfly (Kremling Krew Classification - Flitter)
Natives of Crocodile Isle, Flitters are used as grunts by K. Rool in the Kremling Krew. First seen in DKC2, Flitters weren't that much of a threat, but had to be minded carefully at any rate. Though Flitters don't actively seek nor actively discourage their tormenters, a botched jump results in a new way to tear off your face. Flitters love the swamps of Crocodile Isle, and also enjoy hovering peacefully among the brambles, but they have been known to appear just about everywhere.
Flitters, as with all flying enemies, have a myraid of flight paths. Sometimes they travel along a line, and sometimes they circle a particularly valuable item. Their most common position, though, is simply sitting in the air, often in a long line of their kind. But one thing is certain: with their long, springy bodies, they were very commonly used by the Kongs in a long chain of midair jump attacks allowing them to cross otherwise daunting gaps. This last aspect makes them almost functionally identical to two other foes, Necky and the red Knik-Knak.
The pesky dragonflies once again returned in Donkey Kong Land 2. Years later they came back in DK: King of Swing, in which they were significantly more dangerous, as the Kongs couldn't simply use their regular jump attack to down them. A single charge attack, though, was enough to send them sailing out of the sky, and also knock a banana from their inventory. Due to this most recent appearance, it is now confirmed that these insects escaped being wiped out from both destructions of Crocodile Isle.
