Kackle
Species: Anthromorphic Crocodile Ghost (Kremling Krew Classification - Kackle)
These ghostly Kremling pirates policed the depths of Haunted Hall, an enormous gothic library embedded in the thick of Gloomy Gulch on Crocodile Isle that was at one time going to be refitted as an expansion to Krazy Kremland. Appearing as transparent Kremling skeletons, Kackles were differentiated by the color of bandanna they wore. There were four Kackles in Haunted Hall, who wore blue, green, yellow and red bandannas in that order.
Upon entering and boarding a skull cart in Haunted Hall and passing through a skull gate, Kackle would ceaselessly torment the poor soul(s) riding. As soon as they would pass the gate, a 'life timer' appeared which, when it reached zero, would cause whatever Kackle was roaming that section of the track to become momentarily opaque and take the life from one of the cart's inhabitants. Only by escaping through a matching skull gate would they be rid of Kackle's grim presence. Breaking the + barrels provided more time for the riders to escape, but breaking the - barrels merely hastened their approaching doom. Diddy and Dixie Kong both tangoed with Kackles during their journey to K. Rool's Keep to rescue Donkey Kong.
The Kackles may have survived both Crocodile Isle destructions, as they are ghosts freed from the physical flesh. There's also no telling what effect the initial Kremling Source surge at the end of Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Country 2 (Game Boy Advance) would have had on Kremlings already dead. Chances are, Kackles are still very much out there among the ranks of the Kremling Krew.
