2000 Spaceworld Demo

While this is ABSOLUTELY NOT a part of Rare's Banjo-Kazooie GAMECUBE offerings that will surely come out some day, we felt it should be known that a great, slobbering load of Banjo-Tooie characters appeared in a quickly put together GAMECUBE environment. So.. er.. here it is!

This first bit of the short clip (of, once again, NOT A REAL GAME) is quite odd. At this point we don't know much about the Banjo-Tooie characters, but here are several dozen individually moving B-T drones and what-have-yous dancing in a disco style, with flashing colored lights and all. The only thing really missing is John Travolta.

This is where it starts getting familiar. First, we hear the Running Shoes music from Banjo-Kazooie start up, as we see Mumbo's Banjo-Tooie model running from a huge crowd of Tooie characters. Most notable is that thing above the blue thing. Has our camel pal, Gobi, grown a beard? Who cares anyway?

The camera zooms out, and we see Kazooie carrying Banjo on her back running through the canyon, Mumbo and random things on their heels. Once again, note that while the character models are the same, Rare threw this demo together at the last second and only had time to brilliantly model the canyon here. Whenever Banjo-Kazooie GAMECUBE does come out, we can expect even better graphics than the canyon, as this was made on first-generation development kits. Hoo-hah!

Last, and probably best, the camera cuts from Banjo and Kazooie to an aerial view of the Mumbo chase. And who else is it, but KLUNGO!!! That's right, Klungo! Once more, Klungo! (Pardon this, he's just got quite a following at the Vine.) We can also see some of the pterodactyls from the yet-to-be-named Dinosaur World, the ambiguous bearded camel, and that floating electric thing that Mumbo has been seen with in several screenshots. This bit of the demo best shows off the detail of the canyon Rare made specifically on GAMECUBE software. S3 texture compression rocks.
