Donkey Kong was slurping his banana milkshake as he watched Funky surf the waves in the distance. Life was good. He lived on a tropical island, had a beautiful girlfriend, and was regarded as a hero for defeating King K. Rool not once but TWICE. He was trying to get some sleep on his beach chair when Cranky came up to him and started to whine about how he never was lazy like that in his hayday, but Donkey didn't really pay attention. Instead, he listened to the waves break and the gulls flying overhead. Meanwhile......
BOOM! The jail wall that was only recently fixed was blown away again. K. Rool ran out with some of his finest Kremlings, laughing heartily that their escape plan had worked. They were free once again, and this time only one thing was on K. Rool's mind....REVENGE!
The sun slowly set in the horizon. DK was still on his beach chair relaxing. Nobody else was on the beach now, and it seemed so peaceful. Suddenly the peace was broken as Donkey heard several creatures creeping forward from behind. He opened his eyes only to see a giant block of wood come down on his head. The impact smashed DK through his beach chair, and he was out like a light. The Kremlings then tied him up so he couldn't escape. K. Rool put a note on the chair for DK's friends and family to read. DK would be held hostage on the Kremling home of Crocodile Isle, and nobody could stop them! However, K. Rool wanted to give the Kremling army a "new look", and since he had become fond of pirate movies in prison, he had the perfect plan....
Night had fell as Diddy Kong walked along the shore with his new girlfriend Dixie Kong. They were headed out for a "date" together. Suddenly Diddy saw DK's smashed chair laying in the sand. Both monkeys raced over and picked up the note.
"Oh no," cried Diddy. "Not Kremlings...."
Later that night; Diddy, Dixie, Cranky, Funky, and Candy were all sitting together, trying to think about what to do.
"We have to rescue him of course!" Diddy chimed in. Cranky openly mocked him and asked who was going to do the rescuing. Diddy said that if he had to, he would do it alone, and he COULD do it, since he went with DK on his last two adventures. Suddenly Dixie broke into the conversation and told Diddy that if he was going, so was she. The Kongs eventually decided that Diddy and Dixie would do most of the work, while Cranky and Funky would help out with their services. Candy, who was having a hard time since her boyfriend had just been kidnapped, decided to stay behind. Calling Crocodile Isle, the Kongs convinced Wrinkly and Swanky Kong to help as well.
The next morning, Diddy and Dixie set out to the Gangplank Galleon for their long journey ahead.....
