Racetrack Checklist
Mushroom Cup
Well, this one's the Peach themed level, named Peach Beach. This course is expected to be raced partially in water, and have those evil, flippy bird robot things to impede you. Really not the most interesting level, but cool enough to stand up against the others. One has to wonder, though, how in hell a kart can operate in water...
NOTE: The positioning of this track is not confirmed, though it is widely held that this was supposed to be the erroneous "Mushroom Cup" track. I'll list it as such because, frankly, I can do whatever the hell I want
The ever-looming mansion gives this one away: it's the lamer and less frantic sibling of Mario Raceway, Luigi Raceway. Get it? Sibling? Mario and Luigi are brothers? Ha ha? Oh hell, nothing makes you people laugh. I hate you.
Update: It's name is Luigi Circuit
Baby Park? I guess straight reporting is needed here, since I couldn't be funny about this. Ahem. The track requires SEVEN laps around, as opposed to the standard three, since the track is rather short. Fifteen seconds, I heard somewhere. There is a feature in multiplayer that changes the number of laps required, if you were wondering about this.
A desert level! And better yet, it's called Dry, Dry Desert, perhaps signaling numerous Paper Mario refrences. Of course, that may have been the name from SM64, but I'll be buggered if I'm going back to check. Ahem. Expect to see pyramids and such, as it is a desert. There are also baloons. Big baloons.
Flower Cup
Here's Mushroom Bridge. A brige too far? Not really. Sure, maybe the car motif is a bit overdone with two tracks using it, and maybe it is a bit cramped. But swerving through heavy traffic, trying not to get hit, could be a huge thrill.
Hoho. THIS is Mario Circuit, silly past editors, indicated by the giant "Mario" sign in the midground, in case you're blind. Then again, if you're blind, then the only way you're hearing this is if your handler is reading it to you. And if I may adress them for a moment: Without your help, 75% of this site's readership would be unable to hear my ramblings. Thanks guys!
Driving on a cruise ship is an interesting idea, but its hard to imagine a way to define the track boundaries. There's also the issue of having enough room to make a full track. Either way, I'd like the chance to commit suicude by diving of the edge into the propellor, leaving nothing but a slowly dissipating pool of blood in my wake. I swear, nobody cares about realism these days...
The name of this track would be ambiguous, if not for the gigantic sign in the upper-right hand corner of the movie for a few frames that designates it as Waluigi Stadium. It seems to be the same type of "dirt bike" track as Wario Stadium from MK64, only now the bumps are much higher and there are rings of fire to jump through. This makes it seem likely that Wario's track will also be of the stadium variety, since most characters from the same series have similarly themed tracks. Think Mario, Luigi, and Royal Raceway from MK64.
Star Cup
Sherbert Lane! Sherbert land was one of the more fun courses in MK64, invoking memories of Vanilla Lake from the SNES days. This incarnation seems to have dropped the lake motif, but has retained the ice tunnel, making for tight turns and whatnot.
Now this one has us scratching our heads. It's a city racetrack, like Toad's Turnpipe. However, Toad is apparently not in the game. Rumours and ideas have been passed around, from this being Big Ape City to Brooklyn. In this editor's humble opinion(bite me, Sparky), we're looking at Diamond City of Wario Ware fame. Whatever. It's a city level. Go nuts.
Update: This is another Mario themed track called Mushroom City. The cars come towards you this time, like special mode in MK64.
Yoshi has his own track, and it's called Yoshi Circuit. Surprise, surprise. See the windmill to the right? Looks like this be based around Bianco Hills a good bit. Surprise, surprise. Nintendo promises lots of twists and turns to make things interesting, and they look to be able to pull it off (surprise, surprise).
First up on our list is what is apparently good ol' Kongo Jungle. As usual, it bears little resemblance to any DKC location, but hey, it's a jungle, it's on Donkey Kong Island, we're gonna be playing it nonstop anyway. Because we're insane. AND DAMN PROUD OF IT! Ahem. Sorry about that.
Update: This track is called Donkey Kong Mountain, complete with a volcano, falling boulders, and a giant barrel cannon. Kickass.
That's all the tracks confirmed, in their proper order, sorted by cup. Three other cups, the Special Cup among them, have been confirmed, as has the track Rainbow Road. Information pertinient to the aformentioned will be added as screens arise
