Minigame Checklist
Item Minigames
Roll Out the Barrels: There are six barrels. Five have items, one has an enemy. Watch as the barrels lift up to see what lays underneath, and then follow the barrel of the item you want. They will stop moving so you can pick. This is playable in Pirate Land.
Give me a Brake: In this game, you stop a train and get whatever item on the train an arrow is pointing to when it stops. This is playable in Western Land.
Hammer Slammer: This is like a "test your strength" game at carnivals. Hit the bottom of the pole for the thingo to go up and hit a prize. Don't hit too soft or too hard to get the good stuff. This is playable in Space Land.
Mallet-Go-Round: On top of a spinning platform, you must smash two blocks beneath items to get them. Baby Bowser is also on the platform, but he can knock the blocks away with one hit. This is playable in Mystery Land.
Coffin Congestion: This is like the Shell Game in the original Mario Party. Five of the coffins contain items, one contains Baby Bowser. Keep your eye on the moving caskets and pick wisely. This is playable in Horror Land.
Bowser Slots: This is like the Slot Machine in the original Mario Party. Match up three items to get the item. This is playable in Bowser Land.
Battle Minigames
Bumper Balloon Cars: There are spikes in front of the cars, and a balloon on the back. You get the idea. Pop your opponents balloons before they pop your balloons.
Day at the Races: Place your bets on four types of Bowser's henchdrones, then watch them race each other. You have no control over this, so just keep yoru fingers crossed.
Rakin' 'em In!: Kind of like Hungry Hungry Hippos, you have to rake in mushrooms against three others. He (or she) who rakes in the most mush wins.
Bowser's Big Blast: There are four players, and five switches. There is also a detonator. If a player accidently hits the detonator, then the bomb goes off and that player is out. The number of switches then decreased by one. Be the last person type thing standing!
Returning Minigames: Grab Bag, Face Lift, Crazy Cutters, Hot Bob-omb!
Dueling Minigames
Saber Swipes: This is very similar to Shy Guy Says, in that you must press the button pattern quickly. The winner of this Pirate Land duel is whoever completes the pattern first.
Quick Draw: Landing on the same space as another person in the Wild West will activate Quick Draw. It's a duel in which you must turn and fire at the count of three. If you gun early, you get one more chance. Obviously the faster person wins, unless a person turns to shoot early wice, and the opponent wins by default.
Time Bomb: In Space Land, you go against your opponent to difuse a bomb in a set amount of time. The fastest person survives.
Mushroom Brew: In Horror Land, this head-to-head minigame is all about making brew. You must match the buttons with the ones the Goomba flashes to add ingredients. The closest person wins.
Psychic Safari: In this Mystery Land mini game, the players must psychicly charge their mushroom by alternating the A and B buttons for five seconds as fast as they can.
Rock, Paper, Mario: Finally, in Bowser Land, you play this unoriginal minigame. Mario beats Bowser. Bowser beats Peach. Peach beats Mario. Choose wisely, and the spoils go to the victor.
1-vs.-3 Minigames
Move to the Music: One player makes up a dance combination, the the other players have to mimick that dance. Groovy!
Bob-omb Barrage: Go around a pool of water on a raft while your competitors toss cannon balls at you. Or toss cannon balls at yoru competitor. Knock 'em out, or stay alive. Whatever!
Look Away!: One player looks in directions, and the other three have to look away from that one player, hence the name. Don't look in the same direction as that lone player!
Archer Rival: One player is the archer, and the other three are stuck in target costumes. You do the math. This is like Bowl Over only with sharp rusty things.
Shock, Drop, or Roll: One player apparently generates electricity, while three others are rolling on a huge barrel sized cyllindar of nuclear waste. Don't fall off, or you will get fried to the core. TO THE EXTREME!!!!
Lights Out: Three players have small spots of light around them. The rest of the room is dark. The other player has to fumble around the room and hit the three with a hammer. Fun for the whole family (grandma too!)
Filet Relay: One player must race to the finish. The other three must split up the duties by passing a fish to each other. Yeah, you read that right. A FISH.
Quicksand Cache: One person "controls" the quicksand, the other three scramble in it trying to get coins. Don't sink!
Returning Minigames: Bowl Over, Crane Game
4-Player Minigames
Lava Tile Isle: As the seven tiles move and shake in the lava, you're forced to keep moving. Not only are the moving tiles a concern, but you have three other players trying to kick you in.
Shell Shocked: Unlike the Playstation 2, our faithful Nintendo 64 can still support 4-player splitscreen, and what a better way to show it then with giant heads atop tank shells? One hit in this 3-D brawl and you're out, so cowardess is likely the best strategy.
Toad in a Box: Just like the dice on the board, you must hit the block above your head. If you see Toad, up you go.But the higher you get, the faster the block spins, so to win you'll need Lady Luck on your side.
Mecha Marathon: Almost exactly like Psychic Safari, this minigame requires you to alternately press the A and B buttons as fast as you can to wind up your Shy Guy. Once the time is up, they all go for a flight. The longest airtime wins.
Roll Call: This minigame requires (ugh) math skills, so just gnash your teeth and it'll be over quickly. There are bob-ombs ion the forest whom you must count. As they explode, subtract your original number accordingly to find out how many are left. The closest person wins.
Abandon Ship: The ship is sinking, and your only way to stay alive is to climb! coins litter the mast, but with the rising water and fish jumping up to get you, your safest bet is focusing on survival, not greed.
Totem Pole Pound: This is a reverse of Toad in a Box, except you go at your own pace. You drive the tiles down into the ground. The most pounds doesn't necessarily win, though, as the higher you jump is correlated to the distance the pole sinks. Just jump high and press Z at the right time and you're sure to win.
Honeycomb Havoc: Fruit rolls down the tree branches along with a honeycomb. You may take one or two pieces of fruit, so count carefully and you won't get stung by the bees hiding amongst the honey.
Sneak 'n' Snore: Have you ever wanted to play the part of Klobber? We all have. And here's your chance. A Chain Chomp is sleeping at the end of the hallway, and you must run towards it. When it awakes, you must duck inside your barrel. If you were moving too fast, you won't duck in time and he'll get you. Everybody loves those Chain Chomps.
Dizzy Dancing: Sort of like Musical Mushroom from Mario Party, the players must run to the musical note at the middle of the screen..... but they're standing on a giant moving record! Aaahhh! Sounds scary...... but what's a "record"?
Tile Driver: Similar to Tipsy Tourney (which will also be in this game), you must pound the tiles on your picture to make it look like the one in the center. Fastest wins, so DON'T GOOF IT UP!
Deep Sea Salvage: Remember Coin Shower Flower? Remember Deep Sea Divers? Well, put the two together, and what do you have? A minigame in which a pirate ship tosses coins and explosives at the four players in submarines below. Yippie!
Returning Minigames: Hot Rope Jump, Bumper Balls, Tipsy Tourney, Skateboard Scamper, Shy Guy Says, Platform Peril, Bombs Away, Hexagon Heat (?), Slot Car Derby
2-vs.-2 Minigames
Sky Pilots: This looks to be one of the more fun mini-games. A bit like Bobsled Run, players must pair off to race the others. Only this time you're in planes! One person flaps for height and speed, the other person steers. You'll need excellent communication in this game if you want to win.
Speed Hockey: Like Foosball which we all know and love, this is an ice hockey game in which the characters are on rods and you must move them to keep the puck out of your goal. In the words of the great Pinky, "Fun, fun, silly-willy!"
Cake Factory: We all remember that episode of I Love Lucy in the chocolate factory, right? Well, this is the exact same thing, except in a cake factory. One person gabs the cake, the other puts on a strawberry. And just as in the show, you will be required to but candy down your blouse.
Loony Lumberjacks: A crosscut saw uses two people, so two crosscut saws support four people. Nice, since there are four players on teams of two. Press A and B when it shows up above your head and your partner will hopefully do the same. And then you win. Horray.
Torpedo Targets: It's just your average Submarine-Driving-Torpedo-Shooting-Race-Against-the-Clock minigame. No more, no less.
Destruction Duet: A bowser statue stands proud and tall and you must destroy it with a combo of kicks and punches! Fun for the whole family (even grandma!)
Magnet Carta: There's a pile of melat money in the middle of the car arena. You and your teammate are conviently in a car equipped with a magnet. clear a path through the coins and coin bags to get to the treasure chest! Yeah!
Returning Minigames: Toad Bandstand (?), Handcar Havoc, Bobsled Run, Balloon Burst
