Behonkiss's Donkey Kong Country GBA Review
OK, time to get angry. The graphics could have been a lot better. The GBA is stronger than the SNES and could handle any DKC game. So what happens? The models end up being washed-out as hell. Sure, the backgrounds still look good, but I had to make sure my own bodily grease wasn't smeared all over the GBA screen when I saw the characters' blurriness. At least you don't focus on it while playing the game.

Quite good, considering the GBA's limited speakers. Just about all the music's faithfully restored, though some parts have been redone with different instruments(Which I don't like). The entirely new music for Candy's Dance Studios is also really good, especially the first track. (Dooo...dooo....doo....dooo....do-do-do-dow...I need to burn that on a CD. It would be good listening at the pool.)
Oh, and guess what? CANDY TALKS! It's just a few samples("That's great!" when you get a Perfect in the dance game and some different stuff for Funky's Fishing), but it's cool nonetheless, and may hint at full voice-acting for DK GCN(Though it will probably be badly-done a la Mario Sunshine).

Donkey Kong Country GBA was an excellent conversion of play control from Donkey Kong Country. It was basically identical. The snow made you slip and slide, the tires bounced you high, and you had excellent control over where you were going to land. All around, great play control. I have no complaints. And this paragraph is an excellent conversion of a DKL review paragraph, but it fits here. I'm so sly.

I guess I'll rate this by improvements over the SNES version, so I'll say this: It's all right. Definitely better than those crappy Mario Advances. There's somethign addicting about the minigames, and the scrapbook feature definitely adds a lot of replay value that the first lacked compared to the other two of the trilogy. Just don't go in expecting something radically different.

DKC was a fantastic game on Super NES, and a good-but-kinda-limited game on GBC. The graphics on this conversion, while good, still aren't quite up to par with the original, and some of the music has been changed for the worst. However, the good outwieghs the bad(The gallery and minigames, obviously), and if you've lost your copy of the SNES version(Or you're unhealthily addicted to DK like we are), buying is recommended.
