When Master Hand sought to pick out fighters for his tournament, he didn't forget any time period. Well, OK, he forgot dinosaurs and the Wild West and Colonial America, but there weren't any real heroes then.And who was one of the heroes he plucked out of the continuum? None other than Link, holder of the legendary Master Sword and Hero of Time.Truth be told, this isn't the only Link. Over the centuries, many different boys named Link have taken up the sword and saved the day, but this guy was the first, so he's the most important. That, and he looks the coolest out of all of them.(Ahem.)Link grew up as a Kokiri in the appropriately titled Kokiri Forest, but often felt outcast, as he was the only child without a fairy companion. One fateful day, he was awoken by a pesky sprite named Navi and taken to the Deku Tree, who guarded the forest. He was then commanded to begin a great journey to save the land of Hyrule that made him meet Princess Zelda, seek three Spiritual Stones, and made him end up be frozen for seven years, aging in an instant and finding the world around him ruined by the evil Gerudo Ganondorf. He then set out to find the Six Sages who could break the seal to Ganondorf's castle, while being guarded by the mysterious cloaked figure Sheik. At the end of his journey, Sheik revealed that he/she was actually Zelda, who had been on the run for seven years....and was promptly kidnapped by Ganondorf, adding a damsel in distress to Link's growing list of pains in the arse.Link entered the castle, confronted dozens of monsters, and made his way to where Ganondorf and Zelda were. In a colossal fight, Link killed Ganondorf and escaped the collapsing castle with Zelda, only to find his enemy transformed into the colossal, pig-like beast Ganon. He was forced to fight without the Master Sword and use wits to defeat the ugly brute, and was eventually able to send him plummeting into a void opened by the sages. Hyrule was restored to its former glory, and Link closed the gate he had used to time-travel with the sword, and proceeded to go on a personal journey of his own to find Navi, who had mysteriously vanished. He got sidetracked for a bit when he stumbled into an alternate dimension where the moon was collapsing, and went on another journey to retrieve the demonic Majora's Mask.No one knows what happened to Link after this, but it seems likely that he has more tales that have yet to be told.Link got involved with the adventures of Donkey Kong when Master Hand summoned them both to participate in his tournament, and again when Master Hand was revived by Crazy Hand. Since they're in entirely different dimensions, they haven't crossed paths since.
