Far off into the future, man has colonized space and become aquainted with the many species of life that inhabit the universe. In the year 2000 After Space, a galactic federation was formed, acting as a planet-wide UN. A lasting peace was formed... for awhile.
Samus Aran was born on the space colony K-2L. When she was just a child, the colony fell under attack by Space Pirates, a band of nomads who sought to overthrow the Galactic Federation and become the dominant species of the universe. Alas, she was the sole survivor of the attack. Eventually, she was found by the Chozo race, a species of bird people who had advanced far beyond any other race. She was enfused with their blood, and trained by the Chozos to become a powerful warrior. Once she reached her mid-20s, she was given a Power Suit of immense strength.
Samus, equipped with a ship and an arsenal of weapons, entered the business of bounty hunting. Her most successful missions involved her trekking into the heart of the Space Pirate stronghold of Zebes. There, the pirates had captured an energy-draining creature called "Metroid", and were in the process of multiplying them in order to unleash them upon civilization. Samus entered the bowels of the complex, killed all the Metroids and the Pirate leader, the Mother Brain, and caused the central base of Tourian to self-destruct. Later, she eradicated the Metroid species on it's home planet of SR388, and later returned to Zebes, which was once again under Pirate command, complete with new Metroids. Her mission was again successful, and Zebes itself was destroyed, taking the Pirates and the last Metroid with it.
Samus came into the DKU when she was pulled from her time by Master Hand in 1999, where she battled DK amongst the other 11 fighters. After Crazy Hand ressurected Master Hand in 2001, she was once again forced to fight against the original 11, plus several other odd creatures from different times and regions.
Samus is currently flying through space, hunting bounties and Space Pirates. Unless the Hands once again emerge, it is doubtful that she will come into contact with DK or any other Kong ever again.
