So, decided to brave the freeflowing textual lunacy that is the Donkey Kong's Jungle Vine IRC Chat Channel? Very well. But beware, you'll have no comfort of knowing that Our Friend is watching - oh no. This is where our hired hitman, the Mucousy Vulture, takes control. Manipulating everyone behind the scenes with a mucousy claw, Mucousy Vulture ensures that everything is in order. Beware - the Vulture is not as forgiving as Our Friend. At the very least, he'll rip your eyes out.
Obtaining and Setting Up mIRC
Now that our chat has broken free of the Java shackle-like restraints, you'll be needing an IRC client to perform textual talking. Confused? Don't be. First off, download mIRC from their homepage. Run the installation, and then open up the program.
Once you're inside mIRC, you'll need to set it up so that you can access DK Vine's Channel. If the Options window doesn't pop up once you enter mIRC (and there's something seriously wrong if it doesn't), select File then Options to enter the Options Window. Once there, click on the small 'Add' button (above 'Edit' and 'Delete'), and a small window should appear. In the appropriate sections, enter:
Description: DKJV Chat
IRC Server: studio64.yi.org
Port: 6667
and press 'OK'. That's all the information you need.
Once setup, hit the 'Connect' button (which looks like a small lightning bolt) and wait for mIRC to connect to the server. You'll receive a welcome message and a Channel window will pop up - close that. In the text box, type:
/join #dkvine
and you can start chatting! Keep an eye out for the staff, too - they'll visit from time to time. Real staff can easily be identified by having an @ in front of their name (so don't get any ideas about trying to pretend to be us).
