BaronKrusha's Pokemon Red / Blue Review

Game Freak spent most of it's time on the game play, so don't expect superb graphics. Never the less, Ken Sugimari was able to make the Pokemon look fantasic. Most of the graphics consists of tiles trees and grass and such.

Easily the most underappreciated part of Pokemon. I enjoy the music, because it's catchy and light hearted. Each trainer you come across on your journey has his/her own little jingle. The sound effects are well done for Game Boy. Each Pokemon has it's own cry in battle, which is kinda cool. After a while, you'll remember what cry each Pokemon makes.

Very easy to understand. All the commands are listed in front of you during the game, so it's easy for beginners to pick up on the fun. It's either an A procede command, or a B cancel command. Very easy.

RPGs have been done, but not like this! You play as Ash Ketchum on a quest to become a Pokemon master. But to do that, you must train wild Pokemon to fight for you, against other trainers. Winning will result in cash and your Pokemon leveling up to become even stronger. Along the way, your Pokemon will learn powerful attacks to use against your opponents. You can only carry six Pokemon with you, but a quick stop at a local Pokemon Center will allow a Pokemon transfer into your computer. There are 150 to collect, so this game will last a while, especially when one version of the game doesn't contain all of them. Grab a link cable, a friend with a different version, and trade!

Pokemon is the only RPG I can play without getting bored all of a sudden. Along with the addictive gameplay and personality-popping Pokemon, the game has a simple charm. The cartoon and various Hasbro products may have turned it into a kids thing, but believe me, it's for all ages.
