Think they're going to announce Sabreman Stampede at E3?

Anonymous' Mario Kart Double Dash

Graphics

This is not a pretty game. From what it seems, Double Dash doesn't really even try when it comes to graphics. Every character looks like a plastic toy, and in stages where it’s supposed to be dark, the lighting is really just hideous to look at. The environments are just as cheesy as the characters with eye balls on all the hills or ice blocks, and not to mention even items. I mean I’d rather have the Mario Kart 64 graphics (partly because of the nostalgia quality...but still).

Sound

Now for the music. These tunes are not masterpieces in any sense of the word. There short, cute little tracks and are basically harmless. You won’t find yourself muting the TV because the songs are so annoying, but then again you won’t be humming the tune from ‘Baby Park’ either. I will admit that I did find myself coming up with lyrics while I was racing with my friends to some of the more classic songs but that’s as close as I’d like to get with these songs. Now, if I hear “HI I’M DAISY!” one more damn time...! These voice tracks can get very annoying, especially if you get hit by a fucking blue shell and Peach and Daisy pass you and you get a ever so happy Daisy pass you and she’ll said those dreaded 3 words, and those words will push you over the edge unplugging the system.

Play Control

This part is quite simple. Since the Gamecube controller is so comfortable to your hands the controls are simple. The use of triggers for the mini turbos (or as I like to call it ‘excellent turning’), felt so natural and the gameplay is so fast that its prefect for the attack button to be right on top of the acceleration (GO!) button. The game’s controls are simply perfect in my opinion.

Originality

This is mainly the reason why this game shines, (well at least for people with friends). Nintendo made a bold choice of changing the design of the Mario Kart series by putting another person in the kart. No other game took this leap. It was always a load more fun when you had your best friend in the back of your kart throwing a red shell to knock the crap out of Bowser and Wario in front of you so you guys can steal the first place trophy.(So many damn memories with this game.) But ultimately this game made me upset because Mario Kart Wii didn’t have those special two karts. I don’t know why they would just completely take out the new (and best) aspect of Double Dash.

Final Word

Before I give my abosulte final words, I would like to comment on saying the one player mode is very challenging (and some may say cheap) but it’s not an absolute item rap fest...much like Mario Kart Wii is, which is why this game works. It’s challenge level tests your skill, not your luck level. Anyway, Double Dash may not have the best graphics in the word, or the music may not rival the track’s from Banjo Kazooie, but overall when this game is extremely fun. Me and my friends have gone back separate times to beat this game. And if your big on unlockables this game has plenty. with a stunning 20 character cast, and every character having there own kart, really makes this game even more enjoyable.
