Well, I'm in Pennsylvania at my cousin's wedding right now. Luckily it was a "new age" wedding with laptops at every table at the reception. Either that, or I just pre-wrote my update and gave it to Chad to tinker around with. Say hello, Chad!

Chad: Greetings, citizens of Earth!

Well! Tonight we have A NEW ARTWORK and a pride-swallowingly fantastic new forum in the Bulletin Board for all your irrelevant posts. So check it out, and I hope your weekend is currently more exciting than mine. At least you didn't have to drive through all the interstate traffic like I did.

The beginning of the weekend. Also known as the beginning of a two-day news drought. No matter, we've got a few highly requested updates planned. First one is to be served up tonight, actually. Most posters on our Bulletin Board seem to like our makeshift character biographies, so here are two more, for lesser-known bosses Wild Sting and Giant Clam. And these are the official names, not ones we made up, ala DK64. Until tomorrow, little vikings.

Just some quick news tonight... IGN64 seems to think Dinosaur Planet will be released Quarter 3, 2001. While last night's update of a February, 2001 release is unlikely, this is even moreso, so we're keeping our current one. We're speculating a March-May release for Sabre and Krystal's big adventure. Oh, and the HappyBob-owned-and-operated Rubber ChickeN64 has gotten this tidbit of next-gen news from Nintendo's official Dutch site: When Game Boy Advance and GAMECUBE are hooked up by way of controller port, you can play GBA games on the television, using the actual handheld as a controller. With Game Boy Advance's backward compatibility, this means we finally get to see Game Boy Color games on a screen that's not scratched beyond recognition.

Wizzy wam wam wazzle! Tonight we sifted out eleven beautiful questions from the proverbial River of Updates, and tossed them into the Mario Party 2 Swanky's Strife. Also, on the U.K. N64 release list, Dinosaur Planet is listed for a February, 2001 release. While the U.K. releases are usually at least a few months behind the North America ones, this date is more specific than our "Quarter 1, 2001" release, so we changed the Release List a bit.

09/26/00
Yeah. Okay, we don't have much for you tonight. Mr. FAQ has been updated. Maybe a miracle will happen tomorrow and we'll get some news or screenshots. Yeah.

09/25/00
Two new Artworks and a new Feature. Slush's forehead has been saved.
Update by Chad.

09/24/00
Okay, first I'm going to present the update. Second, I'm going to present the excuse. Artworks are bountiful tonight. Now, the reason for us turning to these suckers again for the 13th time this month is because we didn't have the time to do something bigger or nastier in nature. However, I'll make a little challenge to myself. If we don't have a good update tomorrow, I will get a tattoo on my forehead of Gary Coleman. Seriously. I'll even post the pictures on the site if the update is an Artwork (or more than one) tomorrow. My forehead is at stake here, so tune in tomorrow to see if we deliver.

Slush scripted out pure insanity tonight, and I spent two hours filming it. A new member to the Monkeypiece Theater is here! Bask in its bacon-like goodness.
Update by Chad.

09/22/00
We promised you we'd have a good update tonight, but perhaps we should have said it was better. It's not good as in new screenshots, so to say, but much better than what we've been going with for most of last week. First, we have what is becoming a daily tradition in more Artworks. Second, we have two more chapters in our Fun With Pass A Story: The Epic Donkey Kong (Not A) Cock-And-Bull Story. You may have not even bothered to read this bad boy yet, but it's coming together quite nicely. These newest two chapters are quite insane, so you'll want to check them out if you need a good chuckle. Have a great weekend, and keep watching the skies!

09/21/00
Hey-ho! Four more Artworks tonight! Wait, no, don't hit the back button just yet. Only two are by Santiago Lopez! And since the lack of news has resulted in utter crap updates by us as of late, expect something good tomorrow.

Chad Sez: No Chance In Hell! There's a rumor making the rounds on PlanetN2000 about a possible Nintendo/Sega crossover event. A game that's released on GAMECUBE and Dreamcast and features key Nintendo and Sega mascots including Donkey Kong. Of course, this is merely a rumor, and very unlikely. Chad even forced me to put up this DKC2 graphic dismissing the idea. He's just an old crusty SNES veteran who hates Sega, if you couldn't tell. However, anything is possible. We'll keep you posted if any truth actually comes out of this. Oh, and here's three more Artworks. Slow down, boy!

09/19/00
At long last, Letters is here..... er...... that's all, really.
Update by Chad.

09/18/00
Tomorrow you can look forward to another edition of Letters, but today we simply have Two More Artworks. Hey now, settle down. IGN64/GAMECUBE isn't updating today because they're playing the new Zelda game. So at least we have a little something for you, even if it isn't much. Hopefully this sorry state of affairs will end as we get closer to Banjo-Tooie's release in November.
Update by Slush.

09/17/00
FINALLY, we have some news. AT LONG LAST some news! But first, here's Seven Bloody Artworks sent in by none other than Santiago Lopez. Okay, now for the news. While at Nintendo's 2000 Spaceworld show late last month, TendoBox got a chance to play Banjo-Tooie. They happened to notice weird add-on cartridge things in the system, without any labels. We may be jumping to conclusions, but this appears to all but prove that Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie will connect by lock-on cartridge. I'm happy, as this will allow for the most in-game possibilities, and it was what I had been hoping for all along. They went as far as to make mock-up carts of the two connecting, so click here to check it out.

I've finally discovered Napster today. I can't believe the U.S. Government is trying to shut down a place that not only has the theme music for Full House, but songs from Jesse and the Rippers. Those cranky bastards. Well, Chad predicted last night that we would probably just settle on whipping up a smorgasbord of biographies tonight. We almost did, but instead we decided to go a harder (i.e. more entertaining) route. Well, the entertainment part is up for debate. Before we get to it though, I took the liberty of updating the Big 'Ol Donkey Kong Character List Singles Version with a few names that were accidently left off from the last time we updated it. Now, we have a new Feature tonight called Monkeypiece Theater in which Chad used his collection of Donkey Kong related action figures and made some movies, ala the Nightmare Before Christmas. As long as Tim Burton didn't direct it, it shouldn't give you nightmares though (yes, that movie disturbed me...I know it was a fricken' children's movie, but damn you...wasn't Bambi disturbing?). Oh, and one more quick thing. I was checking out the Donkey Kong 64 site yesterday at http://www.donkeykong64.com and I discovered how dirty minded the folks who work on the Nintendo websites are. You think I'm perverted? At least I don't work for a giant global spanning corperation! Yet. Anyway, click here to see what I'm rambling on about.
Update by Slush.

09/15/00
Remember when we promised an actual content update tonight or tomorrow? Well, it's not tonight. We'll do a bunch of biographies tomrrow or something. Here's two more Santiago Lopez Artworks. He's cranking those babies out, isn't he? He seems to have forgotten WINKY, though! The sod! Anyway, it's looking more and more likely that Banjo-Tooie will feature lock-on connectivity with Banjo-Kazooie, but Rare will remain secretive about it until release, which actually is a pretty neat concept. You don't know what to expect until you get done staring at the box art for a few hours and open the box! Oh, and that bit of Rare-not-revealing-until-release news was "courtesy" Gun Toting Retro Net.
Update by Chad.

09/14/00
Unh-Unh! Leigh Loveday was kind enough to update Rarewhere today with some hi-res Banjo-Tooie wallpaper. They're simply old B-T screenshots, but this time in hi-res, which means you can see it ever so clearer. Check them out at Rare's site, or just go to our Banjo-Tooie Hi-Res Screenshot Wallpaper section. End.

We've got a great update for you tonight, but it's a bit late so I'll just tell you what it is and be out of your hair (or scalp, for the bald amongst you). That crazily titled Rare Witch Project site (which was able to go to ECTS) posted a bit more imformation on Banjo-Tooie. In a pirate-themed level called "Jolly Roger's Lagoon", Captain Blubber returns, only he runs a jetski shop appropriately named "Wave Racer". At long last, Blubber's ride into the sunset on a Ski 1000 jetski at the end of Banjo-Kazooie makes sense. But no, you don't want this crap news, do you? How about something a bit more substantial? Artwork, you say? Why YES, we have FOUR NEW ONES! And before I go, one minor note... Nintendo Web posted some information on the Banjo-Kazooie GAMECUBE hardware demo shown at Spaceworld last month, and we took it and created the Banjo-Kazooie GAMECUBE section, along with a synopsis of the 2000 Spaceworld Demo. Remember that this is NOT part of the obviously eventual Banjo game to be released on GAMECUBE. It's just a quickly thrown together demonstration of what the GAMECUBE can do as far as number of characters goes. BLAGH, GOODNIGHT!

Well now. Here's the scorecard. Lack of news-6, DK's Jungle Vine-0. Yes, it's our sixth straight newsless update. We're just desperatly plodding through the week, hoping to have something special by Friday or Saturday (something newsless, but something special nonetheless). I mean special as in an entertaining update, not like your first kiss or first big greasy steak. So then. Hello Artwork my old friend, I've come to talk with you again. And if you don't like it, you can LICK OUR SODS®.

09/11/00
No news tonight. There's been a complete lack of it for a while now, and we may be entering a news drought. Anyway, here are a poncey pair of new Artworks. Oh, yes, and Aussie Ben decided to send in his Donkey Kong Land III Time Attack Times, which we in turn posted. He seems to be the only one participating in our "send in yours!" pages. C'mon, let's have some more!

Tonight we thought we'd give you one update, but then we thought we'd give you a TWO PART TWO PART update that's sure not to make a difference in the quality whatsoever. First, we've finally updated the FAQ not with new FAQs, but with updated answers and a better look. Also, we have two new Artworks that are sure to not change the fact that tomorrow is Monday. I miss Labor Day, as if it was a lost lover...

Well, despite prior plans to not do so, we've decided to up and fix the infamous Heroes of Kazaam, to bring the game to a "completable" status. If you already have it, give it another hearty download (you can still use your previous saved game, only it will work this time) and if you've never downloaded it, give it a try. It's sure to feel a lot better once you play it. We even improved the underwater engine a bit. Please note that you still can't backtrack to previous levels after you've beaten them. It was just too minor of a problem for us to arse ourselves over fixing.
Update by Chad.

09/08/00
Tonight we're up the creek without a paddle...and a boat. Quite frankly, I'm not even sure we know how to swim. However, we did manage to scrounge around in our mailboxes, and finally Our Friend found an Artwork. Yes, that's right. We didn't do any work, and we're relying on somebody else for our update. It's not just a Donkey Kong's Jungle Vine problem. The Monkees never wrote their own songs.

ECTS having ultimately wound down as far as game news goes, I decided tonight would be a good night to purchase Mario Tennis to bring my DKU game collection up to a "complete" status once again. So have my Mario Tennis First Impressions, and let me get some sleep. I had about two hours of it last night. Ough.

''For this show, the clowns are going to pop out of ME!'' Today we've stolen borrowed some nifty new Banjo-Tooie screenshots from the cleverly named Rare Witch Project, a site out of the UK that was able to attend ECTS. We've added these to our Banjo-Tooie Screenshots page, but like last time, why not just view their tartiness here? The first one is of Boggy's wife, who reminds me of a cross between Bea Arthur and Mrs. Doubtfire. Does Mrs. Boggy pee standing up?While she claims Boggy has quit sled racing and just sits in the igloo with his wide screen TV, I have my suspicions that Boggy is actually fond of women's panties...and is a single dad. Anyway, the other screenshot is even more revealing, as it's our OLD FRIEND CONGA! Yes, I had to do that in all caps, because we here at the Vine love good old Conga. It seems Conga has put his days as the jungle brute behind him, and is now the ringmaster at Gruntilda's circus. Isn't it fantastic how these characters are moving on up? To the East Side? To a de-luxe apartment? In the sky? Hey, that reminds me of a song. Here's the story, of a man named Brady...

A bit more ECTS show news, this time from Nintendo Project. Both Banjo-Tooie and (surprisingly enough) Dinosaur Planet are on display. First Dinosaur Planet, as this game has been in the dark for the whole summer. ''You are on day 525 of your 30-day evaluation. Please register product.'' The basic controls are more or less an improved version of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which should suit a game of this nature perfectly. The time does flow in this game (once again, as in Zelda 64) but it seems like more in the game is effected by this. One cited example was a mammoth that falls asleep at night, and can only be interacted with during the day. Oh, yes, and Tricky's vocal cords are present and correct, as in Diddy Kong Racing. Sweet. As for Banjo-Tooie, there isn't much actual news, other than a few name changes and such. Previously called King Woo Fak Fak by us, the angler fish boss is reportedly Lord Fak Fak. One world is named "Jolly Roger's Bay", which constitutes a pirate village and standard water world. Good ol' Captain Blackeye probably lives here, then. Of note for both Banjo-Tooie and Dinosaur Planet, the framerates were superb, which is definitely a relief, as DP was said to have a less-than-desirable one at last May's E3 expo.
Update by Chad.

I am....Zorro! Tonight we have some news that was originally reported by Yumblie's Banjo-Kazooie. Reports are coming in from ECTS that Captain Blackeye is indeed in Banjo-Tooie (as they've seen him). Another interesting thing in the report that came in is that Spiral Mountain is right next to the ocean. Too bad they don't sell Salt Water Taffy.

¡Hola!

Today we've picked the Accounts fruit off of the Tree of Updates. It was rotten, but we decided to make you eat it anyway. So enjoy!
Update by Slush.

09/01/00
Oh, hey! First of the month! I'm too lazy to link Update Archives, but you see that link about five inches down the screen? Click it for last month's updates. Anyway, on to business. We've got an odd Artwork on the page of the same name. Also, Loveday updated Rarewhere at long last, with a Banjo-Tooie movie! There were just assorted (amazing) clips from the game with no voices to speak of, so instead of going the Movie Synopsis route, we decided to download the 22-meg version of the movie just so we could post a few new high-quality Banjo-Tooie Screenshots for you all. One last note, since we had the Banjo-Tooie screenshots from the movie today, we decided to push back Accounts until tomorrow to milk not having to do twice the work. Enjoy! Or don't. I don't give an arse either way.
